Technology in AA Hospitality Suite

Join with members from around the world who are helping to build and support technology tools to help carry the message of Alcoholics Anonymous, anywhere, anytime.

Several organizations — separate but sharing a common purpose and audience — have joined together to sponsor and host a hospitality suite for the 2030 AA International Convention. Our suite is a combined effort of Technology in AA Online Community, the National AA Technology Workshop, and Code for Recovery. Come to our suite to meet members who are dedicated to supporting our fellowship in becoming better at serving our fellowship’s primary purpose — …to “carry the message to the alcoholic who still suffers.”

We also will have demonstrations of how AA members are creating a “real AA experience” using virtual reality technology!!!

What is the Purpose of our Hospitality Suite?

We suppose most we want to fellowship and meet as many attending the convention as possible. But, as our planning committee considered important motivations, we settled on a few:

To connect with members of our organizations from around the world and other convention attendees (new members?)
To build awareness of available technologies and technology resources (tiaa-forum.org, NAATW, C4R, OIAA, etc.)
To share existing and new ways technology can support recovery
To promote fellowship in an increasingly digital world
To demonstrate the application of AA principles while using technology

Technology in AA Online Comunity

TIAA-Forum.org is a welcoming, private online community where AA members and others who are offering services to AA service entities talk about using technology to carry the message to alcoholics who still suffer. Share what works, ask questions, and pick up practical ideas — no tech experience needed.

National AA Technology Workshop (NAATW)

The National AA Technology Workshop (NAATW) is a yearly gathering of AA members who care about how technology can help carry the message. Members share experience, swap ideas, and bring practical solutions home to their groups and service committees.

Code for Recovery (C4R)

Code for Recovery (C4R) is a nonprofit group of volunteer developers, themselves in recovery, who build free, open-source tools for 12-step communities. Their tools, including the 12 Step Meeting List WordPress plugin, help intergroups, districts, and areas publish accurate meeting schedules on websites, in print, and in the Meeting Guide app. Volunteers of all skill levels are welcome.
